SSH Telnet
Find out more about the Telnet protocol and its usage.
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange data between a server and a client. Since the data exchanged by the two sides is encoded, a 3rd party won't be able to intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of handling a website hosting account. The commands that can be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, for example, the alternatives are limited as you simply won't have root access to the hosting server, so you may simply create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, etcetera. They are all actions which are carried out within the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll have the ability to set up server-side software or to restart the web server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are a number of applications for other OSs, you can use to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Website Hosting
SSH access may be allowed with a click from the Hepsia Control Panel if the
shared website hosting you have picked offers this feature as standard. If not, you can add it from the Add Services/Upgrades section of your Control Panel and enable it right away. You will find all the information you need inside the SSH section of the Control Panel - the host, the port number and the username which you have to use, along with in depth Help articles in which we've listed each of the commands that you can use within the account and examples of the syntax that you have to use. The SSH password may be modified from the exact same section anytime with several mouse clicks. Assuming that SSH access is enabled, you will also be able to connect securely using an FTP client too. With an SFTP connection, all the files you upload will go through an encrypted connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
SSH access is offered by default with some of our
semi-dedicated server packages, while with others you can easily add it via the hosting CP if required - even just for the current month. Either way, you are able to activate and de-activate the function with just one click via the SSH section of the CP. In the same location, you'll discover the server name, the port number and the username needed to connect to our platform. You'll also find a box in which you could type the password that you would like to use, because it doesn't need to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better security, you may also change it as frequently as you require. The full list of the commands which can be executed within a semi-dedicated account is available in our Knowledge Base, along with the syntax and a few examples. An extra function after SSH access is allowed will be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP using any FTP client that supports such connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
You will be able to use SSH to manage your content no matter which
VPS servers you pick when you sign up, because all our packages come with this feature by default. You won't need to include or allow anything manually - the minute your server is ready and you receive the Welcome email with the login details, you may connect and start working on your Internet sites or any software that you'd like to set up and run on the server. You will have root-level access to the VPS and because the account shall be separated from the other accounts inside the physical web server, you shall be able to do anything you need without any restrictions. You'll be able to set up any app you require and that shall run on a Linux-based hosting server, reboot any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and manage your files and databases fast and easy.
