An access log is a text file containing an extensive report on all the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files that were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script program and a website visitor opens just the home page, for example, you may find many files inside the log. It is because there are components on the home page which are embedded - parts of other web pages, images, etc. All these files shall be listed inside the access log, allowing you to get a full picture of the way your site works. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally termed "raw data" as well. An access log provides the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, in addition to the user’s IP address, world-wide web browser and Operating System. More info, including the referrer website, is oftentimes provided as well. A log file may be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats supplied by your server.
Access Log Manager in Shared Website Hosting
If you obtain a shared website hosting from our company, you will be able to determine if access logs must be produced and for which domains or subdomains in your account this must be done. You may enable this function from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, incorporated with all shared accounts. Each and every domain you host or subdomain you create will be listed there and you will see an On/Off option next to each of them, so you can easily enable or disable the generation of access logs individually for every single site that you have. You could save a log to your personal computer by clicking on the Download link that you shall see within the same exact section of the CP. The link is available even if you disable the log generation, so you will still have access to the data compiled by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it won't take more than a couple of mouse clicks to activate the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The function may be permitted via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this could be done individually for each and every domain or subdomain you have in your account. Whenever you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you'll find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. A single click will activate the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this function with great simplicity. A Download link within the same section will permit you to save the gathered content as a text file, that you can then use on your computer system. Even when the logs are deactivated, you shall still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
